MONDAY – TLW: School Holiday

TUESDAY – TLW: Be introduced to Early People and Lifeways p.43 Students will read and discuss Boy of the Painted Cave p.46-49 spi(6.3.3) HW:Review latitude/longitude notes for short quiz WED.

WEDNESDAY –TLW: Read C1 p.51 Why and How People Lived and Why They Worked in Groups–identify vocabulary terms in C1-1 spi(6.2.3)

THURSDAY – TLW: Write a personal narrative imagining they are early hunters describing a typical day of hunting in the stone age using p.52-53 spi(6.2.3) NOTE: We finished C1-1 in class today! The writing assignment should be completed for a homework grade.

FRIDAY – TLW: Discuss C1-1 review questions on p.55. Students will also reinforce map skills through a compass rose and a map logic assignment. spi(6.1.1)

SOCIAL STUDIES PLANS
August 27-31

MONDAY – TLW: Identify the parts of a map. Students will also complete vocabulary for maps and globe. spi(6.3.1)

TUESDAY – TLW: Discover “What is Latitude”. Students will measure distance in degrees north or south of the equator. spi(6.3.1)

WEDNESDAY –TLW: Discover “What is Longitude”. Students will measure distance in degrees east or west of the prime meridian. HW: Review notes on Latitude and Longitude for a short quiz tomorrow (Thursday). spi(6.3.1)

THURSDAY – TLW: Short Quiz on Latitude and Longitude. Students will then start on a project of Continents and Oceans p.A2 (A colored paper “map and globe” skills project) spi(6.3.1)

FRIDAY – TLW: Finish working on the project of Continents and Oceans. P.A2 spi(6.3.2)

MONDAY – TLW: Draw and Label geography terms from the Atlas on p.A20. Pop Quiz tomorrow! (Know Tennessee state flower)

TUESDAY – TLW: Read and discuss the Themes of Social Studies. P.22-25. Students will take notes using a graphic organizer. Students will also work in groups to create posters depicting each Theme. Pop Quiz- today!

WEDNESDAY –TLW: Students will continue working on Social Studies’ theme posters. It will rubric graded!!

THURSDAY – TLW: Read and discuss “Social Studies” p.26-29.

FRIDAY – TLW: Presentation of Themes of Social Studies posters!!

SOCIAL STUDIES PLANS
August 13-17

MONDAY – TLW: Welcome to Germantown Middle School! Students will meet each teacher on team 6A and start learning the GMS Way!!

TUESDAY – TLW: Welcome to Germantown Middle School! Students will meet each teacher on team 6A and finish being introduced to the GMS’ Way!! Students will receive a school tour.

WEDNESDAY –TLW: Complete a Social Studies book Scavenger Hunt. This assignment will help students get familiar with how to navigate their S.S. book. (How to find the maps, etc.)

THURSDAY – TLW: Draw a map of the United States labeling all the states and capitals. This assignment will pull from their prior knowledge about the location of America’s states and capital. They can use their agenda book for assistance.

FRIDAY – TLW: Conclude drawing of the United States and finish up scavenger hunt from Wednesday if necessary.
