This week students will complete a “Natural Disaster Activity” reinforcing issues surrounding the 5 Themes of Social Studies!!! FIELD DAY will be on TUESDAY!
First, students will be shown a video to examine realistic events and outcomes of a natural disaster. After which, students will be faced with the following scenario: You and 5 of your classmates have become deserted on an island as a result of an enormous twister. Because most of the surrounding area has been destroyed, it will take at least 10 days before you will be rescued. Your task is to come up with a detailed plan to survive until a rescue team arrives. One of your classmates has a broken rib and will not be able to help lift anything. Another classmate speaks very little English language. Two other of your classmates seldom get along due to their past differences. How will you come together to survive? (Additional considerations for survival will be provided, as well as, things needed) Students will also be asked to illustrate a picture from one of the days stranded. HW: Have a Great Summer!!!! Last day of school May 23rd.!!!
